A hybrid approach to estuary modelling
نویسندگان
چکیده
A hybrid model incorporating process and system modelling characteristics has been developed and applied to the evolution of a theoretical estuary with a small lake basin, partially enclosed by a barrier with an entrance open to the sea. The one-dimensional model is capable of modelling changes in sedimentation both spatially and temporally and hence, tracks changes in crosssection dimensions along the estuary. The model structure is a series of linked modules to solve the hydrodynamics, the sediment transport equation and a distribution of the sediment to bed and bank. An evolution simulation was conducted for a generic coastal lagoon over an approximate time span of 2000 years with the simplifying assumption of regular sediment supply from the catchment. A further assumption is present for the depositional module in that the distribution is affected by the operation of an attractor state governed by river regime relationships.

Short term prediction of traffic flow is one of the most essential elements of all proactive traffic control systems. Although various methodologies have been applied to forecast traffic parameters, several researchers have showed that compared with the individual methods, hybrid methods provide more accurate results . These results made the hybrid tools and approaches a more common method for ...

متن کاملModelling the Heterogeneous Price Setting Behavior of Firms (DSGE Approach)
Despite the empirical evidence of the difference in the degree of price stickiness of goods and services, in the new standard Keynesian models, the same price stickiness is considered for all firms producing intermediate goods. In recent years, a new generation of pricing models has been introduced to simulate the heterogeneous price setting behavior in which, unlike standard pricing models, th...
متن کاملMorphodynamic processes in shallow estuaries: influence of tidal flats and channels on sand transport
Flood/ebb-dominance in net sediment transport of shallow sandy estuaries with tidal flats and channels (typical around the U.K.) is investigated using a 2D model (TELEMAC). The micro-tidal Dyfi Estuary is used as a case study. The along-estuary net sediment transport in the Dyfi has been predicted and characterised as ebbor flood-dominant. The simulations illustrated that shallow waters (inner-...
